David Turner started his career in the Motor Trade in 1973 as a trainee salesman for Reginald Tildesley, Ford Agents in Walsall, West Midlands. After 12 months he took the opportunity to help to run a small used car garage in Wolverhampton. It is there that he developed his own contacts for the trading (wholesaling) of cars. In 1979 David started his own trading business, firstly from Wolverhampton and then in 1983 from his home near Newport, Shropshire.
In 1986 the business moved to Brocton Manor Stables, Newport. As well as wholesaling vehicles more vehicles were being sold to the retail public, the business grew steadily. A niche market in Shropshire was established selling sports, performance and executive cars, the business grew year on year and it became obvious that it needed prominent main road premises. In 1989 David moved to the Showrooms in Forton Road, Newport.
Paul Turner began his Motor Trade career in 1982 at Oakley's the Ford Agents in Shifnal, near Telford in Shropshire, firstly as a Salesman and after six months promoted to Sales Manager, responsible for all new and used car sales and Europcar Car Rentals. In 1987 Paul joined the BMW Dealers for Shropshire, George Oakley's as their Sales Manager. In 1990 after three successful years with BMW, Paul left to join David as a partner in David Turner Cars.
The Partners business aims were to become the leading independent specialist used car dealer Shropshire and Mid Wales district, selling a high quality product at a realistic price and specialising in Four Wheel Drive and the 'higher end' of the market. Great emphasis has always been placed on the quality of the product coupled with the highest levels of service to the customer, both before and after purchase. The presentation and quality of the vehicle stock on show at David Turner Cars has become a trade mark for the business, customers frequently praise the staff for the way the vehicles are presented.
During 1999 David Turner Cars purchased the premises they currently occupy, Aero Garage, Chetwynd End, Newport, Shropshire.
